Financial Planner Certificate/
CFP® Exam Prep

Financial planning is a competitive growth industry. This 285-hour, 21-month program is designed to:

  • qualify and prepare you for the CFP® Certification Examination
  • develop the knowledge and skills needed to provide comprehensive, full service financial planning services

The program is facilitated by prominent professionals and trains 101 core financial planning competencies identified by the CFP Board. The six program modules are:

  • Fundamentals of Financial Planning
  • Investment Planning
  • Insurance Planning
  • Tax Planning
  • Retirement Planning
  • Estate Planning

After completion of all six modules, there is a comprehensive review for each module and a Final Exam review. You must complete each of the six program modules with a passing score to earn the USF Financial Planner certificate and to qualify to sit for the CFP® Certification Examination. USF's Financial Planner program must be completed within a three year period.

*Reflected in the chart above are a $100 late application fee and a $400 late registration fee effective Friday, February 12, 2010.

Registration is a two-step process.

  • Submit an application for admission with a $100 nonrefundable application fee. Download Brochure with application forms and instructions here. Our office will contact you after the application has been reviewed.
  • Upon acceptance, you may register by paying the program fees in full or by electing our no-interest deferred payment plan. The payment plan requires an initial payment of $2,495; the remaining balance is paid in two installments of $750.

The CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certification is the most widely recognized financial planning certification; it is the mark of professionalism. The right to use the CFP®, CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™, and CFP(with flame logo)® marks is granted by Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc. to persons who meet its rigorous educational, experiential, and ethical standard and pass the certification examination.
