Nonprofit Management Certificate

Nonprofit organizations play a dynamic and integral role in our communities. Crucial to the success of any organization are the knowledge, tools and skills needed to grow in an ever-changing environment. These courses offer noncredit, short-term learning opportunities for those involved in the nonprofit industry who wish to further their education, skills and mission, and for those wishing to enter the nonprofit field. To earn the certificate, you must take four core courses and two electives within a two-year period. When you have completed the requirements of the program, you may request your certificate. Non-certificate students may enroll in individual courses.

Development and Fundraising

Community organizations face an increasingly competitive fundraising environment that requires a high skill level for success. This course teaches principles of effective fundraising, including financial development strategies, case presentation, board participation, direct marketing, capital campaigns, prospect research, corporate partnerships, major and planned gift solicitation, and the laws and regulations that govern fundraising.

Learn to communicate with ease and confidence. Make your content concise and interesting, calm the presentation jitters, and design visuals that enhance your presentation.

Special Event Planning

In this course you will learn the secret to creating unique and successful special events such as galas, fundraisers, health fairs and similar special events including weddings. This session will include planning and research, implementation, on-site management, contracts, vendors and budgets.

Strategic Planning and Board Effectiveness

This interactive class will help you examine ways to improve the board's effectiveness and understand the critical role of the board in leading the strategic planning process. You will also complete a formal personality profile and learn how to maximize the effectiveness of key personality types to create a motivational environment.
