Course Detail: QIC11020 - Lean Six Sigma Green Belt

This program focuses on managing quality projects utilizing the fundamentals of Lean and Six Sigma methodologies. Lean topics include the concepts of the elimination of waste and reduction of cycle time in organizational processes. Six Sigma principles consist of problem solving techniques, data collection and analysis, reduction of process variation, process capability and cost analysis.

The Lean Six Sigma Green Belt (LSSGB) program is broken out into four modules. Students select and work on a real problem while applying learned techniques and tools to effectively resolve the problem and meet specified project goals. Students also learn how to utilize statistical software and/or work with a Black Belt or Master Black Belt for advanced statistical analysis. The program is designed to help students prepare for the University of South Florida Green Belt certification and is applicable to project managers, project team participants, business analysts, technical specialists, and others who want to improve business processes utilizing proven quality methodologies.

This program aligns with the University of South Florida Green Belt requirements, utilizing quality deployment methodologies and problem solving techniques to reduce process variation through the DMAIC process: Define a project, Measure the process through data collection and process reviews, Analyze the data utilizing statistical tools, Improve the process by creating effective solutions, and Control to ensure the process continues to meet its output objectives. By the end of the program, students will have progressed through these fundamentals to improve a process and meet project objectives. (56 hours)
